I was walking home last night up Connecticut Avenue north of Dupont Circle, weaving through the clumps of Cherry Blossom tourists. A worn-out couple was plodding north just in front of me with their tween aged daughter.  She stopped in front of one of those old grand rowhouses that now host various non-profits and universities.  "That would make a beautiful house!" Pointing to one of the hotels on the avenue she asked, "Are those apartments?" She looked at her parents, "We should live here!" She was falling in love with the city.

Urbiphilia...Add to dictionary.  Urbiphilia is the attraction to and love of cities.  It is the obverse of biophilia, and arises from the same deep well of evolution.  Like biophilia, it starts young.

Urbiphilia. You heard it here first.  Stay tuned for more...
